Coultry Park Terrace, Ballymun, Dublin

Regeneration

The team won the international competition in 1997 to prepare the masterplan for the regeneration of this community of 20,000 people in North Dublin. The commission was then extended to include 140 of the first phase homes, which are mixed tenure and planned in consultation with the residents.

The imagery for this scheme is inspired by the architecture of Dublin. The long three storey curving terraces overlook the new public park in the manner of 18C Dublin squares and the close behind the terrace is reminiscent of rendered two storey cottages like those in many of Dublin's side roads. The construction is part timber-frame for off-site quality control.
