Development Framework

David Prichard conceived the masterplan for Ballymun which transformed the existing 1960’s satellite dormitory of social housing into a real mixed use town with new offices, shops, leisure, and local government facilities. The urban design ideas are to change the 1960’s dual carriageway and cul de sacs layout into a Main Street with new link roads into each neighborhood.

The new Civic Centre and Arts Centre are now built. The road has been remodeled replacing the roundabout with a new crossroads and once the first tower is demolished the civic plaza will be laid out. The project has attracted major inward investment and the shopping centre has consent for renewal and expansion.

David Prichard also designed a new hotel and mixed use scheme which awaits construction.

David Prichard prepared the Development Framework Study which sets out the urban design intentions and is used to market the project. Land Use and Capacity Studies were prepared for each of the 32 sites.
