24 Greville Street, London

New Lease of Life

24 Greville Street was a refurbishment and adaptation of adjacent office buildings. The Office Group required a contemporary update of the former warehouse buildings to provide serviced workspace.

The project unlocked the potential of the site with a two storey courtyard extension to the rear. Completed in two phases the first phase included the main reception suite and lower ground lounge incorporating meeting rooms and informal seating areas, linked through to the main entrance via a mirrored lightbox element.

A central spine wall links the two phases and allows long penetrative sightlines from the main entrance area to the communal meeting rooms. The angled corridor and intimate meeting room pop-outs encapsulated the primary design concept. The second phase incorporated further workspace accommodation and new build areas.

Built in the early twentieth century, the building required new mechanical and electrical services, new circulation, incorporating a new lift and flexible partitioning strategy. The building now provides a range of smaller business units.

The new-build element consists of two large meeting rooms stacked over one another, creating an enclosed lightwell and communal landscaped terrace. Additional accommodation was realised from a new 3rd floor roof conversion.

The original brick work structure was stripped back to reveal the industrial heritage of the building. Exposed brickwork and refurbished timber floors contrast against clean lines and contemporary metal and glass fit-out.
